Jim Shaffer

Jim Shaffer is the former Dean of the College of Management and Human Service at the University of Southern Maine, where he also served as the Chief Operating Officer and Dean of the School of Business.

Prior to that, Jim had a 30 year media career that took him to various USA cities, including Portland, Maine. In 1991 he become President and CEO of Guy Gannett Communications, which was based in Portland and had TV, newspaper, and other media properties in seven states, and which later became the Maine Today Media.

After strengthening Guy Gannett and then leading its sale in 1999, Jim studied leadership at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.
