Both the United States Congress and the Maine Legislature have recently taken aim at incentive programs that provide critical support to renewable energy projects in Maine. Many of these changes become effective in 2026 and are expected to have a dramatic effect on project development. Drummond Woodsum’s Energy Practice Group is closely tracking these developments. Join Adam Cote, Energy Practice Group Leader, for a 1-hour informative discussion focusing on an overview of changes to federal tax credits for renewable projects as well as changes to Maine’s net energy billing program and what those changes could mean for your business.

Meet The Presenters:

Ben Algeo is a member of the firm’s Municipal and Energy and Utilities Practice Groups. He specializes in land use, energy, and environmental law. He works with a diverse array of clients, including municipal governments, private developers, landowners, nonprofits, and Tribal Nations. Clients rely on Ben for advice on a wide range of issues, and for representation before courts, agencies, local boards, and at the negotiating table. Ben brings a practical, solutions- oriented approach, dogged advocacy, and careful attention to any matter he works on.

Prior to joining Drummond Woodsum, Ben clerked for the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and worked for the Maine Senate Majority Office during the 129 th Legislature.

Christina Baworowsky is the Vice President of Policy and Advocacy at Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions (CRES). In this role, she leads the organization’s efforts to implement federal policies that promote cleaner, more cost-effective energy solutions designed to decrease emissions, boost job creation, support domestic manufacturing and safeguard the environment. With more than a decade of policy and advocacy experience, Christina focuses on accelerating clean technology and innovation. Some of her policy areas of expertise include energy, environment, vehicles, infrastructure, tax, trade, manufacturing, supply chains, telecom, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, critical minerals and permitting.

Prior to joining CRES, Christina served as the Senior Federal Policy Advisor at Tesla, where she represented the company before Congress and the Administration. In that role, she drove Tesla’s federal advocacy, engagement and policy development to accelerate emissions reduction, promote American innovation and bolster domestic manufacturing. Before joining Tesla, Christina was the principal federal lobbyist for ChargePoint, the world’s largest electric vehicle charging network. She also represented Alliant Energy Corporation, an investor-owned utility serving Wisconsin and Iowa. Earlier in her career, Christina worked at the Nuclear Energy Institute in governmental affairs, which advocates on behalf of the commercial nuclear energy industry.

Adam Cote is the Leader of the Energy Practice Group and a member of Drummond Woodsum Strategic Consulting. Adam has over 20 years of experience serving the legal needs of clients in renewable energy matters, with a focus on renewable energy development, the wholesale purchase of electricity, the development of renewable energy credit policies, renewable portfolio standards, energy storage, demand response and non-transmission alternative technologies. A former renewable energy business owner, Adam brings a sophisticated understanding of the business dynamics of the industry to his legal practice. He also combines substantial knowledge of public policy, organizational development, law and regulation with deft political handling to deliver tremendous value to his clients. Adam regularly advises a cross-section of businesses, regulated utilities, landowners, municipalities, school districts, and trade associations on strategic goals such as navigating a complex legal issue, passing a law, or initiating and closing a deal.
